Opened in the spring of 1997, this popular facility is used by both internal groups and a host of professional groups including the Portland Symphony Orchestra, Heptunes, and Kildysert Entertainment. Local events include numerous dance recitals, State political debates, concerts (traditional Irish folk music, Leo Kottke, Rickie Lee Jones, JoDee Messina, Blake Shelton, Shawn Colvin, Patty Griffin. We also have hosted The Maine Judicial Supreme Court, The Air Force Band of Liberty, The US Navy Sea Chanters, and The US Army Jazz Ambassadors. We are pleased to have hosted the WPOR Jingle Jam, and we are pleased to host the PCA Great Performances family series.
The South Portland Auditorium is located on the campus of South Portland High School located at 637 Highland Avenue, South Portland, Maine, just minutes from downtown Portland. The handicap accessible, air conditioned facility features a 780-seat Proscenium thrust theater, two dressing rooms, ticket booth on the lower level, large lobby area, and ample free parking.
The South Portland Auditorium is pleased to announce the purchase of a brand new Steinway 7 foot Grand Piano, to be dedicated in memory of long time South Portland High School music teacher Elaine Fire Wolfson.
